Life is a race and we all are running towards our known or unknown goals on the path we chose for our journey. But sometimes, I find an urge inside me to just let the time flow and stop. So, I stop. I stop and suddenly I am able to feel the time slipping through me like a ghost gliding through me, continuously. When that happens, I step aside from that road I have embarked upon and walk towards the meadows that are present on one side of that path.

For many and many hours, I just sit there and enjoy the company of solitude while time keeps running away and away. Physically, I am on my bed or in chair, doing nothing but mentally I am roaming through the vacant faculties of my mind and invigorating myself. That’s best feel sometimes. Just sitting on that chair, no books and no thoughts to occupy me in this race of time; just me and those eternal meadows that wait at the sides of every road for these racing people; to wait and enjoy.

Yes, this enjoyment has its own price; nothing comes free of cost. We cannot have everything of our own choice. When I choose to enjoy the meadows, I leave behind the opportunities to build up my career to the colossal extent, I leave some other form of enjoyment to gain this, maybe I am sacrificing some vital opportunity but I am content. I am pleased with this respite even when I know that I won’t be able to buy the biggest car in the market, I am satisfied even when I know that this will reduce the numbers on my pay check. Even when I am aware of these, I am in the meadows instead of that race and I am content.

I am content because whichever path I’ll choose now will lead me towards my happiness instead of the society defined success. The real success is in enjoying the run as well as being able to enjoy those meadows anytime you want.

Today again, before writing this, I was just laying down on my bed, enjoying my meadows. The trees opposite of this meadow are laden with fruits and flowers, and they grow gloriously there. I bend down and plant some marigolds along the edge; marigolds, because they are bright and vibrant coloured.

Maybe the yellow colour from the flowers will attract the attention of some runner and they’ll stop, wait and come into these meadows to enjoy themselves for a few minutes. Till then, I am here, planting flowers.
