Nothing in the universe can stop you from letting go and starting over.” —Guy Finley
Beginnings are beautiful .Starting something new offers excitement, and opportunity for change. Whether it be the first page of a new chapter, the beginning of a workout/diet program, the start of a new semester or job, or even a decision to quit a bad habit. They are all beautiful. You say goodbye to bad habits of your past, and hello to a healthier life. When you are saying hello to a new habit, relationship, city or a completely new way of life, you may also be saying goodbye to someone, something, or the familiarity of who you were before.
A new beginning can mean freeing yourself of what cages you in, of what makes you feel less whole. We aren't always ready for change, and hardly do we ever want change, but our fear of the unknown will hold us back more than anything else in our lives. We have to let go of our need to control the future, we have to move out of our comfort zone. If we choose to stay, in a world, stuck, nothing will ever happen for us. But if we decide that the future holds much greater things ahead than anything we may leave behind, and we embrace that change - that's when we will truly notice the beauty of new beginnings.
You could stay focused on all of the newness to avoid the farewells, but then you miss honoring the very best parts of what came before. By acknowledging the joy and the sorrow, you can bring your loves and lessons into your new beginning.
While you can't actually stop time, you can, and you should, pause what you're doing and take the time to rest your body, your mind, your soul. It can be exhausting going through life without ever stopping and taking a deep breath, and it can have detrimental effects on our bodies. Take the time once in a while to listen to what your body and mind are telling you. If you're tired, actually get some rest. If you're not liking the work you've been putting out, figure out why and fix it.
How do we know when it’s time to make a change?
In a nutshell, it’s time to move on when you FEEL like it’s time to move on! When something about your life is consistently unsatisfactory, you need to make a change in the way you are living or in the way you think about your situation. Stop looking at the potential, and get in touch with your reality. You have to let go of the idea that your past dictates your future. It doesn’t. You get to choose. You can accept where you’re at, or you can do something different; there is always an opportunity to switch direction. Every moment brings a second chance – the promise of something new. Every day is full of hopes and dreams that can happen. Every morning we all begin again, and life becomes what we make of it.
