I strongly assert that first impression are not always the best, and so they should never be lasting and permanent. Man is always evolving, changing, growing and so maturing. When he himself is in a flux, how can we judge him best and form the right impression of him? We are likely to falter our judgement of his mind, heart or intellect when we come first face to face with person

It is rightly said that all that glitters is not gold and appearances are more often than not very deceptive and misleading. It takes years to probe into the mind of a person because man’s mind is unfaithomable, very complex and complicated .All that meets the eye is just a minute reality, as much of the reality remains hidden in the realm of obscurity and mystery.

People attach more importance to outward physical appearance to form an impression of a man’s personality .A lady with all the exquisite, charming sharp features – rosy cheeks and lips, long hair and perfectly balanced body- maybe taken for a fairy. Her bewitching beauty will enthrall any onlooker and the first impression of a person about such a beauty will likely to be superficial because her heart and mind which form her true personality are still not known. In that case, will our first impression be the best? Perhaps Not.

Look at the people around you. Most of them are selfish and opportunist. But we hardly learn about their inner thoughts and feelings as we first met them. They appear to be good, sincere, amiable and helpful. But are they really so? On the other hand we see very strong and stout persons, but there is no guarantee they will be emotionally and spiritually strong also. We see a dark skinned person with flat features and may be looking ugly also .But surely such a person can have a heart of gold. When can we discover this? Not at least at first glance. It is our contact and relation with that person lasting for quite sometimes that we shall know the nobility of his character. Thus it is clear our first impressions are not always the best. We should not be hasty in forming our judgment which will disprove our early impressions since people change colors like chameleons that suits their purpose. I would assert that we should be slow in forming judgement of things and persons because our first impressions can deceive us very easily.

In conclusion, even though first impression is sometimes important in our day to day lives, but in my opinion, first impression is usually wrong and the worst means of judging someone, because it’s not until you get to really know a person, you are better equipped to understand what kind of person they truly are and really know the individual based on real values.
