It goes in continuation with the previous wryt-up. So do check that out first.

Both the countries of India and Pakistan have their own religious, communal, historical and geographical lines of dispute. Add to that nationalist aims and rudimentary politics and the solution remains pending. The situation thereby was followed by three wars over Kashmir.

In 1965 , with an attempt to gain the remaining parts of Kashmir, Pakistan attacked India. But owing to International pressures , ceasefire was declared but India held the powerful position.

In 1971, a war for liberation of Bangladesh between the two countries was fought. Pakistan lost Bangladesh but attacked Kashmir. India managed to occupy even Pakistan occupied parts of Kashmir but later returned the regions.

The hostility between the countries remained and the Kargil war in 1999 was fought.

Militant activities continues tostir up troubles in the valley till date and stands unresolved. India claims that Pakistan has sponsored terrorist activities and is brewing up " hate and venom" among the Kashmiri youths. Pakistan assumes suppression and vulnerability of Muslims in the Hindu populated India. But the educated Kashmiri youths seems to have great resentment towards both the nations and throws up chants of independence in the air.Kashmiri youth and children have specific hate and fear towards India which perhaps owe its origin to extensive regulation of Indian army in the valley. According to UN, Indian soldiers have committed certain human rights violation in the state. UN also cites Pakistan’s role in increasing violent and militant activities in the valley, supporting terrorist operations.

Also, Kashmir Situation is incomplete without accessing China's role in the issue. The Sino-India War in 1962 was resulted due to a dispute over the sovereignty of Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh bordered regions, over which both the countries claimed control. Not expecting the attack, India couldn't stand up and lost the war. UN intervened, a ceasefire was declared, but China held up control over Aksai Chin and ultimately attained 20% of the Kashmir valley.

Hostile relations continue within the countries over Kashmir, but a war between the nuclear powered countries could be catastrophic. A resolve on the issue is strongly needed. Recognizing the graveness of the issue, it is time that India and Pakistan come to a resolve bringing about peace and stability in the Kashmir valley. The demilitarisation in the valley should be followed on attainment of stable peace in the valley. The children in the valley must have a beautiful bright future devoid of bleakness of stone pelting and smoke.
