Take A Ride, Change A Life !

One fine day when my train was scheduled to arrive at 9 in the night, had me in a terrible dismay when it got delayed by 6 hours. It would reach Delhi at 3 in the morning when I won’t have any public transport or metro available to take me until Gurgaon. I hopelessly checked on the XYZCab App, and to all my amusement there were 3 cabs strolling nearby! I quickly booked one and thanked the driver for being available at such an unusual time of the day.

So many other times we come to realize that the cabs around are no less than a miracle for so many people. The middle-class strata of the society, who had to face predicaments of harsh weather conditions like that of the sultry sun, freezing winters or flooding rains on two-wheelers have now found a perfect way around to fight those. Moreover, those so-many-times-dreamt-of-luxuries of travelling in four-wheelers of people who cannot afford the same now come true on a daily basis!

When students are allotted exam centres on remote locations as far as 40 km from our place, with no metro or transport facility, the cab drivers try their best to drop us in time, as our kin do back in the hometown. Travelling to the office, college or any other place has become much easier and pool rides make it cheaper too. We have also gone through times when we had to walk up to that common pickup point of public transport. Now we find the cab waiting at our doorstep in few minutes.

No wonder these cabs have proved to be a blessing for women who have to travel alone most of the times. A woman no longer needs to worry about the background of the driver or the route that he will follow as it is all being monitored by the people constantly working towards this. It feels safe to know that even the smallest journey is being tracked by someone! I have a personal experience with a cab’s driver, who didn’t leave the drop location until my mother opened the door from inside.

So, what do these cabs do apart from giving luxury? Are we missing out on something here? Yes!
We rarely ponder the fact that these cabs are the only means to bread-and-butter of so many families out there. All those people who take up this task of serving us from day through the night are the ones whose lives completely depend on these cab services. By giving employment at such an enormous rate, cabs are paving an efficient way to earn for all those people who are struggling hard to make a living. And these people work so hard at this, some or the other cab will surely be waiting for your ride at all times.

So the next time you book a cab, do applaud yourself for making a difference in someone’s life.
