‘Periods’-माहवारी

A very common word for a once-a-month natural cycle which many of us are reluctant to speak out loud. What it is actually- when a female body hits puberty, her body starts to produce a new set of hormones, and these hormones tells her body to start to prepare for pregnancy every month. The menstrual blood shed out of body are from the uterus.

अपवित्रता

Uncleanness has no scientific basis. Even if it did at some point, it doesn't anymore. Blood is the same everywhere, although menstrual fluids also do contain tissue and uterine lining.

The use of sanitary hygiene products have made life alot simpler for mensturating women, who regulary play sports, go to work, party, and just go about their daily lives.

Today, any kind of taboo on menstruation doesn' make any sense. While women do suffer discomfort, prompting debates on monthly leave policies and dependence on painkillers, the questions of hygiene, impurity, and the like are to be thrown out of a window.

Suppression of talk about menstruation, lack of education, and embarrassment about it are issues to be addressed. Temple restrictions exist through customs that are irrelevant in 2018.

‘Kamakhya’a goddess that celebrates‘Shakti’

Kamakhya temple is a famous pilgrimage situated at Guwahati, Assam India.

Kamakhya devi is famous as thebleeding goddess. The mythical womb and vagina of Shakti are supposedly installed in the ‘Garvagriha’ or sanctum of the temple. In the month of Ashaad (June), the goddess bleeds or menstruates. At this time, the Brahmaputra river near Kamakhya turns red. The temple then remains closed for 3 days and holy water is distributed among the devotees of Kamakhya devi. There is no scientific proof that the blood actually turns the river red. Some people say that the priests pour vermilion into the waters. But symbolically, menstruation is the symbol of a woman’s creativity and power to give birth. So, the deity and temple of Kamakhya celebrates this ‘shakti’ or power within every woman.

Celebrate‘The Bleeding Women’

India is a land of goddess. We worship Women and Mothers but then get irritated about a girl on her periods. We still are surrounded by educated, smart people that think Periods aren’t something to be discussed publicly.

Let’s encourage our children to accept periods as normal. There should be no shame for a girl asking for a sanitary napkin or a boy picking it off the shelf for his sister or mom. .

Girls can continue to be happy and blossom, if mothers or even fathers raising their girls alone are well prepared on how to talk this with their daughters. Periods are a monthly occurrence for all healthy adolescent girls and women. Wouldn’t it be nice if a girl walks up with a smile to her mother and says, “Mom, I got my first period today!” versus the girl dragging herself fearfully and confused, saying, “Mom, I see some blood, I am scared”

Menstruation is something that should be talked about in your ownfamilies and on public platforms.
Myths like women are impure and will transfer insects into anything they touch is still widely believed all over our Country. “The Tulsi will die…” But when you ask them for one good reason why — none of them have an answer.

In many cultures, periods are celebrated as an eventful, sacred phase of life. And why not! it is a time when people call her dirty, impure and don’t let her touch holy things fearing she’ll make them dirty. But why don’t people just accept the fact that the same holy power that you believe in has also created normal bodily processes in women? There’s also the fact that women are actually purified internally during their periods. Menstruation itself is a natural cleanser. It is body’s own way of cleansing and flushing out toxins naturally. During periods, the body alsodischargesexcess iron. Flushing out the excess iron helps in reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

When we will stop being ashamed of bleeding, When we will start accepting periods, when we will consider women equal, when India in true sense will be free , Bleeding Women will be celebrated.

Their are stillwomen who use cloth to soak their blood because most of them can’t afford other hygenic methods its time that we start talking about periods for them.
