While I was in Pune, I came across one of the favourite comfort food of Maharashtra, the delectable Vada pav.
Being a Punekar, vadapav was always our go-to food. The hot buttery toasted pav surrounding the hot potato Vada with a little sprinkle of garlic peanut chutney. Even Though it's is a simple dish, it loaded with different flavours.
When you take a single bite of the crispy yet soft vadapav, suddenly the hot vapours from the Vada is hitting your face. Then, there is a sudden onset of spicy flavour from the back of your throat due to the garlic peanut chutney. You are then hit by the strong and appetizing smell of garlic and hot vada. (Don't blame me if your mouth drools while reading ,,😋). One bite is never enough, before you actually swallow one, you are already ready for more.
I still remember my first vadapav with hot Irani chai, the best meal ever. Even Though it's believed to be breakfast kind of meal, people enjoy it anytime during the day.
Nowadays, we have vadapav available in different forms like cheese vadapav, ulta vadapav, Schezwan vadapav etc. But one cannot undermine the classic vadapav, which is best and unbeatable.
Eventhough there is always an argument over how berserk the world is over food. We cannot deny that food has the ability to trigger and appease all the our senses. Having a tasty breakfast just makes your day better, doesn't it? Vadapav is not just a meal, it's an emotion.
Also it appeals to everyone, thus each person have their own version of vadapav, which they prefer.
Also makes me think…
Sometimes, you don't have to be fancy to please anyone, with the right balance of everything, you can turn into the best version of yourself.
