My father has high BP and my mother has low BP. That's what has encouraged me to write this today.
BP = SBP/DBP
Normal range of systolic blood pressure (SBP) is 100-130 mmHg.
Normal range of diastolic blood pressure (DBP) is 75-85 mmHg.

So,

Normal blood pressure is 120/80 mm Hg.

Hypotension ( Low Blood Pressure)

Range : < 90/60 mmHg

What to do in case of hypotension?

1. People with low bp tend to use more salt in their diet because everyone knows that sodium can raise bp. But more intake of sodium leads to heaet failure so it is advised to first consult your doctor before increasing the amount of salt.

2. Drink more water as it prevents dehydration and increases blood volume so it is beneficial for people with low bp.

3. Because alcohol if cut from higher to moderate levels, causes dehydration, it's good to avoid it .

4. Eat healthy ( like fruits , vegetables, whole grains, fish etc) and in small amounts, several times a day.

5. Eat low carbohydrate foods like eggs , fish, green leafy vegetables, nuts, fruits, broccoli etc.
6. Try to avoid high carbohydrate foods like potatoes, rice , bread etc.
7. Don't take medicines without asking your doctor.

Hypertension ( High Blood Pressure)

Range: >140/90 mmHg

What to do in case of hypertension?

1. Limit the intake of salt as it contains sodium.

2. Alcohol taken in large amounts can raise bp. So avoid it .
3. Walking and doing excercise also help in such cases.
4. Includes potassium in your diet. Eat green leafy vegetables, potatoes, nuts and fruits like banana and apricot.

5. Stress plays a major role in increasing bp.
6. Take calcium rich diet (dairy products) and magnesium elrich food like whole grain.
7. Having garlic first thing in the morning and having fish oil also helps in controlling bp.
8. Don't take medicines without asking your doctor.
