The first person who will live to be 150 years old has already been born.
The screen that we peer into will soon be within us.
We could soon be taking happiness pills before breakfast.
The perfect partner might need to be charged before bed.
This is a new world we are walking into. And the man who began this journey won't be the man who ends this journey. Where Will Man Take Us? explores the changes technology is bringing about in us as a society and as a species. What will the next generation turn into, what will it be like, how will the new Adam and Eve live and love?
In this book, Atul Jalan tackles nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, quantum computing and genetics, seamlessly weaving the future of technology with the changing dynamics of human love, morality and ethics.
My view:
Technology has helped us in the modern days in ways one cannot even imagine. It rules our lives but just like everything has its own advantages and disadvantages, technology too has the same. While helping us in various manners, it has also been a curse to us.
Atul Jalan's bookis a mix of technology with History, Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics, Genetics, Astrology, Chemistry and Religion and talks about the pros and cons of the technology man is developing as well as improving. He has also somehow managed to make Artificial intelligence,Nanotechnology, Quantum computing, Bitcoin understandable without boring the reader; which shows his writing capability. The book is divided into five sections:The Drivers Of Change, The New Society, The Magic Of Math, The End Of Mystery and The New Man. In these five sections, the author has discussed how the advancement of science and technology affected us and where its evolution might be leading us.
The hard research work done by the author is clearly reflected in the book. His knowledge and research work has paid off and has resulted in such meticulously written book. The language used by the author too is easy and hence can be read by most. I think it is a perfect read for those who like to read scientific things. However, the book got a bit boring for me as I am not into these things but that's just me.
