I was racking my brain, searching for topics that I could write something on and suddenly this idea creeped up on me- why not sketch a little something up about food? Coincidentally, this ingenious thought struck my mind while I was shoving greasy potato chips in my mouth.

Food, a word with which we( and our stomachs) are extremely familiar with is known by other names too such as nutriment, sustenance, art, heaven, love and so on and so forth. Food is multidimensional- it can be what dreams are made of, which for me comprises mostly of fries and milkshakes or it can be your worst nightmare, that is, chillies and green beans.

Food has always been one of the major fields of interest and no wonder, it just tastes so good. With rising innovations, the food industry has been privy to the emergence of various eating habits- from meatitarian to vegetarian and last but not the least veganism.

Food to some( and that is very few) people is only a source of nutrition- eating only to survive. In fact, a few years back I didn't know that such people even existed but when i did come to meet them, suffice it to say, that was a major shock for me. But, food, to most people( like me) is the root of pleasure, of joy and of satisfaction.

Due to food being so closely associated with happiness and euphoria it is oftentimes evident that the consumption of food serves, frequently, as a satiety mechanism for other needs or feelings. This is obvious when we have “some” chocolate because we are bored or we feel sad or that which is seen commonly in movies- having a tub of ice cream after a nasty break up. Eating a whole bar of chocolate will not make us any less bored or make the sad feelings go away and neither will it patch up a couple but we still do it for that momentary state of warmth. Of love.

Even though masking pain with the comforting curtain of food is not always a wise decision but sometimes it is the only available option. And that is quite alright if you actually do opt for that. So grease up your pan and warm your soul with the food that makes you feel at “home” in your home.
