Polygamy In Indonesia!!

Indonesia is the world's largest Island country having beautiful cultures, traditions and rich diversity. Indonesia has many popular places like Java, Jakarta, Bali, Ubud etc where these places resemble heaven on Earth. Indonesia is most Muslim populated and 4th most populated country in the world. I always thought about all the scenic beauties in Indonesia and its unique climate. While I was surfing more about this country I got to know about Polygamy in Indonesia.. and I was like Whaaat!! Such a nice country and this.. Let's see more about it.

Polygamy, One of world's problem is legal in Indonesia. Polygamy is allowed for a Muslim and he can take upto 4 wives if he has the capacity to provide according to the religion . But, the fact is polygamy in being practised by non Muslims also In indonesia. The natives of Indonesian Republic namely Balinese and Papuans choose to still practice polygamy in this modern world.

Some theories according (polygamy practioners) to them say that It is the will of God to practise polygamy and by polygamy one can reach heaven. There are some wives who are brainwashed tohave more wives in the family. I saw some videos about more propagation and many wives coming out to remarry their own husband to a young girl to go toheaven after death.

Every women has a possesiveness towards her husband and family but sharing a man, love, respect to some other is definetely heart breaking to any women. This practice deprives women from their rights. But some women as I said before are accepting polygamy for heaven. They believe that it is the will of god. Some are even brainwashed as if a wife denies this practice, They may get tortured or left out as a widow through out her life without care, love,financial support and even heaven. This practice has done much damage in many Indonesian women.

But in recent years, Strong protests aginst polygamy isbeing observed in Indonesian population. Polygamist leaders are being opposed mainly by female voters. Polygamist leaders are less likely to gain female votes when compared with leaders practicising monogamy. In this world where gender equality is being focussed, Women in Indonesia are to be more empowered.

Good news here is, In April 2008, Indonesian women made a rally aginst government to ban polgamy and polygamous marriages. Many protests are going on in Indonesia about this issue where opposition is strong. Strong opposition against a polygamy promoting app ayopolygami.com is a good sign. Let's hope for gender equality and a win in this battle in Indonesia regarding Polygamy.
