Got Is A Really Good Show. Ummm Okay.

Lately, HBO has become a hub of quality tv series such as True Detective, Westworld, Big Little Lies, Boardwalk Empire, The Wire, Chernobyl and many more. While these shows have provided us with great content, Game of Thrones remains the top contender.It is the most viewed show in recent times.

Surprisingly, this show is even popular in our country. I mean it is as popular as FRIENDS.

It is a fantasy show which is set in a medieval setting. The main plot of the show is that various kingdoms fight one another to claim the throne. Hence the name of the show. It is based on the book series named 'A Song of Ice and Fire' by George R.R. Martin.

Popularity

Now you guys must be thinking that why this series is so popular? Well, it's fighting scenes, the violence, sex, nudity, right amount of suspense, well-written characters are some of its unique selling points.

It is my favourite tv series. I was introduced to this series by my sister. From the beginning, I was into the fantasy genre. That was a major reason which made me watch the show eagerly. So I binge-watched the entire series i.e from 1stto 6th season. It instantly became one of my favourites after Harry Potter. This show is also the source of catchphrases like Valar morghulis, You know nothing, John Snow etc.

From the 1st till season 7, George R.R. Martin used to be the scriptwriter of the show. After that, David Benioff and d.b Weiss took on the role for season 8.

Downfall

The show was going on pretty smoothly until came the final season. Everything went haywire. The storyline was out of order and the character arc was not properly shown. This left disappointment among people including me. We all had such high expectations from this season for very obvious reasons. The rating of the show went downhill. The latest IMDB rating of the final season is 6.5. While rotten tomatoes give 6.6 ratings. Fans have even filed a petition to remake the entire season. Surprisingly about 16,00,000 people agree to it.

I hope that the book series will give us a justified conclusion. For that, we are desperately waiting for George R. R Martin to finish off the last two parts.Till then my friends the North Remembers.
