The 21st century is the century we are living in. Humans have seen changes and revolutions regarding so many things, from technology to infrastructure. The human race has reached Mars and the moon, But still are fighting for basic rights on the land.

The human race, especially women are still suppressed by the norms of the 14th century. Patriarchy is still thrown at anybody's face who tries to raise his or her voice against it.

What is patriarchy?

It is a system in which men are dominant and posses all the power over women, be it socially, politically, mentally or even sexually.

It's strongly believed that women are meant to be submissive and holds a back seat while men
lead everything.

Patriarchy is believed to be a part of the society since 8000 bc. But, guess what? It still has a strong grip on which one of us.

Women still need to raise their voices to practice their rights ( fundamental).
Till date, we need a 'hero' or more preferably I would say 'heroine' to stand and lead, and form an army ( of the ones who are suffering ) to fight against it. Leaders like Malala are still trying to bury it in the mud but are failing due to it's spread roots in our lives.

Patriarchy has affected each one of us in one way or the other. As women's, we still need to take permission for things which men do without consent or permission.

Women are still revolting against patriarchy which is forcing them to be deprived of education and legal choices, in the name of custom and beliefs.

Virginity is still a character certificate and having a relationship before marriage is still a sin for women.

Not only women but even men are targeted by it
They carry so much burden of the responsibility of patriarchy that even they become its prey.

How to subvert patriarchy?

Now the big question is how to fight this DEVIL and bury in the mud of past.

As literate human beings, the first step which we should take is to ask ....... Ask questions.
Ask why? Why am I forced to follow this norm or why I need to follow patriarchy.
Believe me, it's flag barriers would arrive with completely illogical answers.
They would not have anything to say apart from parampara ( traditions).

The second step would be educating, not them, first, you need to educate yourself ( even for that you need to struggle but you have to do that). Understanding why does it has such a strong hold on humans.

Last but not least, start from your home, your locality, your town.
Spread equality, start speaking, start raising voice which would not bow just by an evil strength.

We the young generation of this century can make a huge change by knowing about it and by standing against it with unity. Emancipation of women is the need of the hour.

Again I want to repeat ... It is the 21st century, we should be done fighting problems of the 14th century. It's the time to smash it, bury it and move over it.
