Dhirubhai Ambani- Founder Reliance Industries Limited

Dhirajlala hirachand Ambani, famously known as Dhirubhai Ambani. He was born in junagarh, a district in Gujarat state of india. He was from a business(baniya) family. His father was a school teacher and mother a home maker. Initially, Dhirubhai as a young man worked hard to earn money by selling pakoras. And then, gradually his course of action changed over the period. The founder of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Dhirubhai Ambani, which is now ranked among the worlds top 500 companies.

Dhirubhai was married to Kokilaben, and they had two sons and two daughters, Mukesh & Anil and Nina & Preeti respectively. After, his father retired, he started doing job to earn a living for his family. Being a intelligent and hard working man, he learnt a lot of things in his course of work. Later, he was sent to work in a Oil Shell Company by his employer, there he dreamt of having his own refinery. He also learnt trading stocks, later got interest in textiels, communications etc. He was a curious person. Dhirubhai was also a risk taking man.

Slowly, he expanded his industries to various sectors. He was a highly motivated sales personnel. Worked in every sphere to learn and develop and take his industries to the level where it stands today. By the end of 20th century he build a huge reliance industry turnover. Today, it stands a billion dollar company in almost every sphere of business. It has diversified in energy sector, power, infrastructure, services, raetail, logistics, ICT etc

After, Dhirubhai’s death in 2002, and later on his two sons divided their businesses among them selves. Today, Mukesh is chairman of Reliance Industries Limited and Anil is the chairperson of Reliance group. Both the brother have in the past fought to take over their fathers huge empire and they continue to do so. But both have understood and sorted out their businesses.

Nevertheless, Dhirubhai Ambani was awarded many awards and recognitions. Like best entrepreneur award, Global Asian Award, Business leadership award etc. In 2016, he was awarded Padma Vibhusan by the government of india, it is the 2nd highest civilian award in the country. Today, Across the world he is remembered as an global business icon with a billion dollar industry.
