Every athlete tries level best to win a Gold Medal. If we lose then we also get satisfied with Silver or Bronze medal. If not then a Certificate of Participation also is satisfactory many times. When expectations are not fulfilled, Certificate of Participation helps cope up. Hopes get fulfilled.

It is wrong to consider the fact that those who get big awards have given their best. It is not upto the Judges to reward the best works. There are various literary works by different Artists who have brought a revolution without getting any awards. There are many who do not get Nobel Prize for Literature. Various movies that do not receive Oscar or Filmfare awards have flourished the Movie world with the direction and acting. The most famous movie in the Top 100 list is 'Shawshank Redemption' , and has remained in single digit rank even now. The movie did not win Oscar. In literature, there is a diversity from Virginia Wolff to Robert Frost, who did not receive any award.

So when awards don't matter, then why should one Wish to win them??
Why should we satisfy ourselves with the Certificate of Participation?
When getting a medal becomes a priority, then your proficiency in your field decreases, goals change. There is wastage of talent. The talent gets blunt rather than getting sharp. You weaken to prove your worth.

The satisfaction and happiness from such awards and medals is very temporary and short timed.

Getting such prizes and recognition from people does not decide your worth. Increasing the level of getting polished is more important to shine bright.

Not everyone wins those prizes, so that creates a cynical behaviour and distrust towards ones own self and that discourages the process.

People respecting you is not important, it is we who should feel proud and respect ourselves from within. All we need to do is search for our hidden talents and trust ourselves on the way of working hard to acheive the desired results in life.
