Stickers

We all have eaten fruits which have stickers on it and the most common fruit which have sticker is apple. But do you know that there is a number placed on the stickers which tell us about the quality of the fruits and it also tell us about whether the fruit is poisonous or not.

First of all these stickers are inedible but digestible means if by chance we ate the sticker with fruit then it don’t harm us but we cannot expect any nutritional value from it and the gum with the sticker are made by rubber chloride and some other polymers and we don’t want to eat them, it may be harmful for us.

Now what is the meaning of the number on the stickers? These are known as PLU code, generally there are three types of PLU codes,

1.Conventionally Grown

These stickers contain 4 digits and they are typically starts from number 4 and 3 and its means this fruit or vegetable is conventionally grown means pesticides are used for the growth of this fruit. We all know pesticides are very dangerous for us but if we use less quantity of pesticides then if don’t harm us. But always wash these types of fruits before eating it, this remove majority of germs and bacteria from the fruits. Mostly in our general markets this type of fruits and vegetable are present.

2.Genetically Modified Fruits

In this type of codes there are 5 digits were present and this code starts with the digit 8 and it means that these are genetically modified crops and fruits, known as GMO. GMO are very harmful for humans as well as animals. These types of fruits are toxic, anti-nutritional or may create food allergy in our body. They can damage the immune system and can also create the super-virus. GMO are banned in many countries, in whole Europe GMO are banned from 10 years. But India and China are the largest producers of GMO in the entire Asia but the question is if Europe can ban it why not us? The answer is due to us. We don’t reject them that are why the manufacturers don’t stop bringing these fruits in our country. So remember to reject GMO labeled fruits and vegetables because this step is beneficial for the entire human raise.

3.Organic Vegetables And Fruits

Codes

These types of codes are also starts with 5 digits but it starts with the number 9 and it means these crops and fruits are grown by totally natural and organic ways. These ones are very beneficially for our health but in the same time these are very expensive because these products have to face many tests and also farmers had to work very hard on them that are why they are expensive. But if the government and farmers wants then we can easily get these foods in quite less price and it will also increase our life spams.
