India has been an independent nation since 1947, but the mentality is still under the captivity of the ancient times. As per the Article 17 of the Indian Constitution which says of abolishing untouchability is still far from the reach of socially backward classes. India is still a country governed by caste system. People and animals are both discriminated on the basis of caste.

Casteism on humans

High class priests with the brahminical mentality still practice the customs and belief of untouchability. Dalits are not allowed to enter into temples, touch anything that the upper caste owns. Manual scaveneging is the biggest problem in india which is again a task of dalits due to which 1000 of dalits die.One has defitnitely heard people calling out names to each others, such as calling them "chamaar" etc. in order to tease them. Such teasing is considered cool but one should think of the family who is discriminated on the basis of their caste.

Vegetarianism in India is more to do with the caste system in india than to its effects on animals. Indian vegetarianism is not for animal love. Non vegetarians are considered impure and there is a particular calling for distance from them. It is due to caste-wise insights of food preferences. Upper class consume milk and its products whereas those who are socially backward such as dalits consume meat which is considered to be impure and devils food.

Casteism on animals

torturous dehorning of bulls

Not only do these people violate humans, they have not even spared the innocent animals who cannot stand up for themselves, in the name of casteism. Their cries and torture remain unacknowledged. Many animals that are considered sacred are given as a "bali" to the so called "bhagwaan". There are gods who have consumed tiger skin for their thrones as a sign of purity, the horn of the bull is considered as a lucky charm, these also are a sign of killing the animals. Why are these considered sacred then?

Relation between human and animals is that of beneficial assets- human's property. When these animal become usless they are killed and dalits are supposed to peel off their skin, wash, dry and clean up for leather. But, the end products are used by high class society only.

Battle against untouchbaility

Battle against untouchability and social discrimination needs to gain pace and reach the hearts of the prejudiced people. There should be punishment for aggressive manifestation of discrimination based on caste. In order to remove untouchability caste system should be abolished.
