It takes a great script for a movie to be considered a classic. A great script never ceases to produce witty and amusing quotes that are guaranteed to stay in our head for a good amount of time. Inspirational movie quotes often cross the fences of movie context and can teach us valuable life lessons. So here I’ve listed a few great quotes from movies that I have watched.

“It’s not who we are underneath, but what we do that defines us”- Bruce Wayne, Batman Begins (2005)

All Nolan movies are deeply philosophical, be it a superhero movie. The batman trilogy gave us a plethora of thought provoking dialogues .We see that Batman or Bruce Wayne tries to reason out that he is just a normal being like anyone else, just trying to do good things, because that is what matters most.

Why is the Joker considered to be the greatest antagonist ever? Because all his motives felt compelling, even though they were wrong. It layered the character even more with psychological depth.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you even stranger.”

“Madness is like gravity; all it needs is a little push!”

“My momma always said, Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get”- Forrest Gump, Forrest Gump(1994)

This movie is a classic and so is this line. Tom hanks playing the slow witted lead role, summarized life in the most playful way possible.

“I guess it comes down to a simple choice really. Get busy living or get busy dying.”-Andy Dufresne, Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Coming from the highest rated IMDB film of all time and one of my personal favorites, convicted murderer Andy thinks about his prospects in prison. Either to be proactive about busting his butt out of that place and carving out some type of life for himself, or he can throw his hands in the air and give up completely.

“Some people can’t believe in themselves until someone else believes in the first”-Sean Maguire, Goodwill Hunting (1997)

Sometimes to fully realize ones true potential a guide or a mentor is required. Somebody who lights up the dark tunnel and shows a path. Someone who helps us get up whenever we fall on our knees.

“ It is only after we have lost everything, we are free to do anything” –Tyler Durden, Fight Club(1999)

I don’t think we should talk about the fight club.

“You gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. You never know what the tide could bring” –Chuck Noland, Cast Away (2002)

Again it is Tom Hanks delivering us the dash of motivation. This comes from a Bob Zemekis directed survival movie which I highly recommend everyone. This is a story of hope, and how far you can get with it. How did he not win an Oscar for this role still puzzles me.

“I am IronMan”- Tony Stark, Iron man

His own father introduced him to drugs. He went jail several times on account of drug abuse charges. His wife left him. He literally begged to audition for the role of Iron Man. He got selected and the rest is history.
