It’s at 6 AM.
I’m on my period. It started in the early hours of the day.
I’m tossing and turning in my bed with pain.
He is next to me sleeping and suddenly puts his hand over me.
I scream.
I push his hand away.
Moves to the other side of the bed.
He wakes up.
Baby! What happened?
Can’t you guess? It’s the 9th day of the month and my periods started.
Ohh shit! Your pulse drops now!

I will go out and get some breakfast for us.
Goes out.
Gets idli-sambar (an Indian breakfast) for both of us.
Opens the packet and transfers it to a plate.
Brings it to my bed and never ask me anything.
‘Don’t sit. I will place pillows one over another. You lean over them for support. I will feed you.’

Feeds me, constantly making sure am fine.
Gets a glass of water and makes me drink it completely.
Opens meftal spas (painkiller) tablet and gives it to me. Asks me to sip some water.
Gets a mug with water. Dips his hand in the water and wipes my mouth.
Arranges pillows back to normal.
He strokes my hair in a soft way, lets me sleep and he goes to the living area and sleeps on the couch without disturbing me.

Wakes up in an hour.
Pours some orange juice in a glass. Wakes me up and feeds me and make me comfortable.
By then my pain subsides and I am all good to start my day, which made me feel lucky.
When there is someone who understands us even if we behave worst, it is our toughest times, then no one can be lucky as us. In life, it is always important to have someone to be supportive of our side and make us feel safe. Money doesn’t matter in front of these lovable little signs.
