The Three Kings Chapel, Cansaulim

Situated on a hilltop, this chapel can be seen by whoever travels by the Verna- Cansaulim stretch. On the 6th of January, every year, people in thousands come to celebrate the three kings feast. Some people believe that this holy place is haunted by the ghost of three kings that lived there. Popular Folklore here states that there once lived three kings who were blinded by greed and power. One day, Holger called the other kings for a feast and poisoned their food. When the two kings died, the people resented their king [Holger] and this made him commit suicide. It is believed that the three kings are buried under the chapel. People have felt presences there and are scared to go there after sunset.

The Jakni Bandh, Navelim

Most of the times when you are lonely, you tend to see haunted beings [ for those who believe in them]. The exact same happens in Navelim. Years ago, there was a terrible accident that took place there. A bus carrying children, fell over the culvert, with no chance of survival. The children succumbed to their death for a minor fault. People, here say that they can hear some children wail in the night. They believe that it is because of their unfortunate and untimely death.

The D’Mello House, Raia

Though Raia is known for ethereal experiences, this house excels them all. People living say that there once lived two brothers who fought for the property. Their fight turned very violent, killing one of them. Locals still hear glass breaking, screaming and strange noises from inside the house. No one is willing to enter this property because they fear the haunted being living there. The family no longer fights for that property.

The Rachol Arc

There is an arc in Rachol that is supposedly guarded by a sentinel from the Portuguese era. The locals there say that at some nights the guard denies entry to some who he feels are not worthy of entering that area. This guard has been around for ages and is not harmful to people who are living in the village.

The spirit of Christalina, Saligao

Like the weeping woman, Goa has a woman spirit that breeds in Saligao. This dates back to around 60 years ago, when a man [not sure if he was a priest] went missing. When he was found, he was speechless and used to stare blankly. That’s when they heard a scream ‘ Christalina’. The locals believe he was possessed by the spirit of Christalina.
