To the one who remembers great times and good laughs,
Living carefree and taking endless photographs
Somehow they turned into distant memories
Reminders of how you still wish you could live at ease
Like you did when you were young, when you were happy, alive
But somewhere along the way it seems you've lost the drive
To look forward to another day, another chance to live, to have fun
To appreciate the rain, even when you can't see the sun
You think where's the fun in responsibility,
In getting things done
You see, this mad chase's biggest atrocity
Is that it makes you numb.
I see you trying to get that back
To feel the way you used to
Searching for a chance to bring it back, keep it safe, put it on loop
And it seems like it won't come back, so you choose to leave it in the past
It'll just be a distant memory
Even though you thought it would last
Everything has changed and it seems like you have too
But I must tell you, you are wrong
There's fun in being you
Maybe this time it'll be different, it'll be new
You can always create more instead of reliving the few
Yes, they'll remind you that you knew how to live
But you never knew how to live fully, that's something only a lifetime can give
Only you can make it worthwhile, make it whole
Because inside of you is the same happy soul
That will continue to have great times and good laughs,
Living carefree and taking endless photographs.
As we grow, so do our responsibilities. For some, it might feel like growing up has stolen your young, carefree and fun self with absolutely no warning. For long now, you might feel like you’ve lost yourself and no matter how hard you try, you just can’t go back. Life seems dull and your willingness to face each new day may have faded along with your teenage years. But it isn’t always going to be like this. You may think that your best years have passed and life will now be a routine. You may think that you’ve lost the version of yourself that knew how to live. But the truth is that you just need time to sort this out. To find where you stand. You have a lot more to experience and only a lifetime can teach you how to live fully. You will laugh again and you will learn to live with joy no matter what you’re going through. Give yourself time and find your inner child. Within you is the same happy soul that lived well and that soul has a lot more to live for than work or responsibilities. So find joy in the little things. Take time for walks with friends or dinner with family. Do what you love, what makes you happy. Travel when you can. Growth must be positive, helping you become a better person. Don’t see growth as a cage but rather as an opportunity to live through new, different experiences. Change is inevitable but that happy soul will still remain. Don’t lock it up while you’re trying to find your way through this phase of dealing with things you aren’t used to. Don’t overwork or stress yourself out. Give yourself breaks to take it all in. So, instead of thinking that the good times have gone. Instead of reliving the old memories, create new ones. Instead of joining the mad chase, take time to find your own pace. As good as the past was, don’t let it stop you from living in the present, even if it seems to be a little different.
