A few days back, one of my friend was not having any communication with me.It was a bit doubtful as earlier he was in regular contact. After almost a week I called him to interrogate about his sudden disappearance.

He shared about his cousin brother's mishap. His name was Chandra.Chandra and his two other friends were riding bike and tried to over take a truck on right side which was already on motion on right hand side. The truck didn't hit them, rather they hit a divider and fell to opposite side of the road where another heavier truck was on speed.Since these people fell on the road unexpectedly the truck couldn't control its speed and run into them.Chandra and his one friend expired on the spot and the third person was on the ICU.

Nayapalli police detained the driver, his helper and siezed the truck. Not only the truck driver but also the youth had the fault. They should have been aware of speeding up and high way rules.

Also another similar incident had happened few days before this incident where,a driver of a heavy vehicle died after hitting the rear part of stationary truck loaded with bamboos on the CRPF flyover.

Free wheeling by heavy vehicle drivers in many places has become a major cause of accidents. The deliberate mismanagement by the authorities has aggrevated the menace.Police said, mostly heavy vehicle drivers drive on the right side of the roads to avoid any interruptions.

But according to rules of road regulations 1989, the driver of motor vehicle is supposed to drive the vehicle close to the left side of the road as may be expedient and allow all traffic which is proceeding in the opposite direction to pass on his/her right hand side.

In 2016, commissionerate police haf launched an awareness campaign for truck drivers. They were instructed to drive on the left side of highway, but the rules have gone for a toss.
