Everything you want is on the other side of fear.
~ Jack Canfield
Fear isn't something that'll make you fail and fall, instead, it is something that will rouse your mind and body up from a slumber to act. Fear is your brain's way of telling you that there is something out there that you have to overcome. We often confuse fear with phobia, fear is a rational response to external stimuli but phobia, on the other hand, is an irrational response to the stimuli.
You are not scared of the dark, you're scared of what you might find in it; you're scared of the unknown. You are not afraid to love, you're either afraid of being loved by people or you're afraid of being the only one that loves. You can't stop being 'afraid' by masking your fears and hiding them, you have to face them and learn to live with it.
Becoming fearless is impossible unless you're SM, a middle-aged woman who blithely reaches for poisonous snakes, giggles in haunted houses and once, upon escaping the clutches of a knife-wielding man, didn’t run but calmly walked away. A rare kind of brain damage precludes her from experiencing fear of any sort, which of course is a whole other case. The end goal isn't to be fearless it is to have control over them, and know how to handle them well.
Fear is a dark cloud that looms over you and doesn't let you go forward, but once you learn how to overcome your fears then there's no stopping you from reaching your potential. Look at the beauty in the darkness, look at the fervent passion in love, everything you fear is just a thought away from being controlled.
You will become strong when even with your fears looming over you, you take a step to get closer to your dreams. You can either fear things or control them. Choose wisely for this will be a major factor in determining your result. Facing your fears is the best step anyone can take for being a better you.
