Reading books while listening to music and sipping coffee in a beautiful café sounds like a great thing. Isn't it? But do they actually make a sensible combination or is it just a stupid trend people are blindly following?

Last night I was returning home by a metro, and a girl entered in my cabin. She was holding a book with her earphones plugged in. I noticed that she read the same page for whole 10 minutes! I don't know if it's just me thinking this but can you actually concentrate on reading a book WHILE listening to music AND standing in a metro full of people. Can a person with average concentration power focus on the book in the presence of these many distractions? Is it just a trend that is emerging to look intellectual in public or am I thinking too much?

Anyway, a bigger question arises when people read a book in a café while listening to music and also EATING! How many times do you have to read the same sentence again? How many times do you keep the book aside to do other work? Am I lacking behind and people have started multitasking, I don't know. I think it's because most of the people feel lonely and "books" is the best way to not feel lonely in public. Also, Instagram! My feed is filled with pictures of people sitting in cafe with a book in their hand and a cup of coffee on their table.

No offence to the people who are victim to this trend but is there really a point in reading a book while doing all this stuff? Is it unacceptable in our society to enjoy our coffee and music without reading a book?
