  • No, I am not a doctor!

My father is a neurologist, my mother is a housewife, and my sister is a dentist. In a family like this, it is not uncommon to assume that the second child would become a medical professional too. Fortunately, my parents, who like to think from their heads, didn't ever pressurize me to become a doctor. It's funny that for once, I considered to become a dermatologist in class 10th but my father, knowing me better than I know myself, straightaway said, "You don't have the temperament to become a doctor, find yourself another field." By the end of my 11th standard, I understood what my father meant and so I started searching for other courses I could enroll myself in.

This was the first misery I was saved from, all thanks to my parents.

  • No, I didn't go to tuitions!

The second misery that I avoided in my life because of my smart parents was that I never went to tuition classes in my life. Although I had science stream, I was the only student in my section that didn't go to tuitions after school. The idea here is very simple. We study different chapters at different pace in our school and tuition. By the time we get home, we are too exhausted to revise what we learnt in class and in the tuition. As a result, we do not get time for self study. Also, knowing my small attention span, tuitions would have been a torture like it was for most of the students in my class. My father told me a simple formula,"study on your own and ask your doubts to your teachers." Anyway, my life was really peaceful without tuitions.

  • No, I didn't worry about good grades!

The worst misery that I was saved from was the burden of good grades. My parents just wanted me to pass and they never cared how many A+ I am getting. Although, it didn't mean that I should stop giving my best. I always did what I was capable of and they were happy. I remember that when my class 10th result came out, both my friend and I got 8.8 cgpa. Where my family was celebrating my result in a hotel, my friend got a good scolding from his father. I still can't understand what good a 9 would have done in his life and I will never understand the logic behind, "Any score above 9 is good."
