His father died that unfateful day.
His gleaming eyes once full of dreams, were now full of tears.
With his father, had long gone all his desires.
He dreamt to become a doctor, to cure the world.
Relieve their pain and give them a smile.
But, the cruel fate played a trick on him.
Helpless, he couldn't save his father.
Watched desperately, life slipping out of his hand, moment by moment.
He cried, he pleaded him,
Not to go.
For he is all what he has.
But his father didn't listen.
Lying on the bed, he could only bless his son.
Both had only each other in this alienated world.
The medicines stopped working, his prayers remained unheard.
He left this world to go, in a land of heavenly strangers.
Leaving his son behind, and his broken dreams.
Now, he had nothing left.
His father was his only ray of hope.
He worked hard to save money, but his illness cost everything.
House mortgaged, no penny in his pockets.
The only thing left with him, were his broken dreams, whose weight was crushing him.
Pushed into poverty after his father was gone,
He could not do anything for himself.
He had only two options, either go for his dreams or to go for a living.
He chose the latter.
After all, an empty stomach hurts more than broken dreams.
He tried hard and struggled, to keep himself alive.
Years passed and passed.
His condition ameliorated.
He had a family now.
Though conditions not as good, but they were happy together.
His wife suffered a heart attack but couldn't survive.
He was left alone with his son.
But he cared for him and did everything to provide his best to him.
His son dreamt to become an officer.
But the fate has different plans.
One stormy night, he fell severely ill.
No medicine could curb his pain and no herbs could pacify him any longer.
He watched the face of his son with teary eyes.
"Don't leave me father. You are all that I had."
He felt a similar pain in his heart.
After a few moments, his heartbeat ceased and his hand became cold as ice.
His soul departed to an unknown world.
Fate repeated its lessons.
He was gone.
All that was left behind was his helpless son, with his eyes full of tears and a heart, aching with the pain of broken dreams.
