International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12th May in the World to provide the Honour and Respect to the Nurses for their Incredible and Honourable work.On 12thMay, International Nurse Day is celebrated by the people for the birthday of the Founder for Nurse which is known as the 'Nightingale of Florence'. She started the Nobel Nursing service.

In 1860, Nightingale laid the foundation of professional nursing.In recognition of her pioneering work in nursing, the Nightingale Pledge is taken by new nurses, and the Florence Nightingale Medal is the highest international distinction a nurse can achieve, were named in her honour, thus the annual 'International Nurses Day' is celebrated around the world on her birthday.

Nursing is a physically demanding position; many nurses cycle through 12 hour shifts on their feet.They give up holidays with their families and work through nights and weekends.This selflessness is also reflected in their commitment to their patients.

People should make time to thank a nurse who has been there for them or their loved ones during days of sickness.

Contribution and importance of nurses and nursing profession around the world cannot be neglected. International Nurses day celebration, therefore reminds the importance of nurses.

Serving the humanity is one of the great professions.Nurses are doing this.I am not going to overemphasize the profession but for the mankind, nurses are playing an important role in the society.

International Nurses Day 2019 theme is ‘’Nurses: A voice to lead – Health for all”.
The 2019 theme implies universal coverage of nursing and health facilities such that no person is left behind from quality care.

The day is celebrated by organizing presentations, speeches and conferences in order to increase worldwide awareness about the role of nurses in saving millions of lives around the world.

Health should be considered as one of the human rights to take care of and nurses are the key to delivering it. There is no other profession that attends to people’s needs in their most vulnerable periods of time as nursing does.
