There are so many myths regarding the human brain, which is considered as ‘Facts’. The reason could be that the human brain is one of the least explored areas in science. We do not know a lot of stuff about the human brain. Another reason could be the functioning of the human brain is very complex. In this Wrytup, I am going to list down the most accurate facts about the human brain, which you may not know about.

-A piece of brain tissue, just the size of a single grain of sand contains 100,000 neurons and synapses. They all communicate with each other

-There are different types of neurons, numerically stating there are approx. 10,000 different types of neurons, which contributes to the functionig of your brain.

A human brain never steps producing new neurons until death

-Your brain comprises only 2% of your body weight but takes 20% of your total energy and oxygen intake

-Your brain needs a constant supply of oxygen. Five minutes without oxygen can cause severe damage to your brain cells

-It is believed that our brain generates about 50,000 thoughts every day, probably that’s the reason why we call the brain as ‘random thought generator’

-Albert Einstein brain weighted smaller than average 1,400 grams human brain

-Technology has forced us to be multitaskers. However, your brain cannot carry out two functions simultaneously, what it does is quickly go back and forth between the two tasks you are performing. This decreases our ability of attention and it affects our short-term memory.

-We often rely on GPS, which destroy our innate sense of direction; this sense of direction took our ancestors thousands of years to develop. Now the area of our brain, which helps in direction, is no longer in use. Those neural connections are fading away. This suggests that relying on technology for carrying out the daily task may not be that effective.

-There is a popular myth, which says we only use 10% of our brain, which is not true at all. We use most of our brain every time; In fact, even when we are sleeping our brain still keeps on functioning.

-Your brain pattern of connectivity is as unique as your fingerprints.

-As we grow older, we tend to start forgetting things this is because our brain unable to filter or remove the old memories hence it gets difficult to form new memories.

If you know some more interesting facts about the human brain let me know in the comment section below. In addition, did you knew any of the facts that I have mentioned in the list above?
