The entrepreneurship environment in India is booming and has seen a massive boost in the past decade with a boatload of start-ups making their way into various sectors of our economy and fighting for their piece of the pie.

The ability to compete in an entrepreneurial environment requires certain innate and acquired ability that might be lacking from fresh-out-of-the-college teenager.

Then, when and where can we learn these traits/mindset?

Business books can be of good help.

Since most of those books are written by very successful businessman, they can provide an opportunity for us look behind the curtain of their minds and learn from it.

Finding good books can be a hassle since every successful businessman has a book and there are a lot of businessman. Most of the books are basically their life story and the amount of knowledge you gain may be limited.

So, here are some hand-picked books that I think can serve a greater purpose.

Book #1: “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki

“Think and Grow Rich” is probably one of THE best books ever written that focuses mainly on the mind and the power of thinking. This book does not talk about how to make money or how to grow your riches but it draws a perfect picture on what thought process goes into the success and in turn money.

It gets even better.

The principles explained in this book can be used in any aspect of life and is not confined to the realms of entrepreneurship.

Book #3: “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” by Robin Sharma

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari is a self-help classic telling the story of fictional lawyer Julian Mantle, who sold his mansion and Ferrari to study the seven virtues of the Sages of Sivana in the Himalayan mountains.

This book gives us a new perspective and insight towards life and reminds us on what truly are the reasons to success and ultimate happiness in life.

Book #4: “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale

The Power of Positive Thinking is a book written to help men and women who are haunted with living in an inferiority complex and have lost faith in themselves. Sharing his life experiences, Norman Peale speaks about faith in yourself being the ultimate key to happiness and that will bring back all good things into the believer’s life.

The only matter of concern is to restore the lost faith. This classic guide is meant to regain self-esteem and faith, which does lead to success.

These are some of the many books that can be of great use, especially as an entrepreneur, to develop skills that aren’t necessary taught at schools or any educational institution.
