It is pouring heavily. The detective and a cameraman beside him watch intently as a hooded man draws close to a woman walking with an umbrella. The detective jumps out of the car and decides to pursue the assailant before the latter can strike, which culminates in him being stabbed in a dark alleyway and losing his life. What follows is a series of wild events that bring together four men: a burned out police officer with a mysterious past, a hardcore drinking habit and a grudge buried somewhere deep within, a hitman who walked into the station in bloodied clothes and turned himself in, a gangster who was responsible in leading the team that conquered the entire stretch of Seoul within the span of a month, and a serial killer who never left a single shred of evidence behind and was only indicted because his lover revealed crucial information against him in a court of law. There is a mind-boggling twist which I won't spoil for a potential viewer, so do check it out on Netflix if you have some time to kill, I can assure you the mood of the day will change for the better. Complete with a spectacular soundtrack that complements the tone of the show appropriately, this series is an absolute blockbuster. The psychological elements used in order to highlight the growing changes in the characters is spot-on, as we witness three men on a path to redemption, as they strive to absolve themselves of their crimes, even though they have absolutely nothing to lose they choose to aid the police force in order to apprehend the worst of the worst, acting as the perfect hunting dogs, chasing and ripping apart monsters into smithereens. The growing altruism that affects all these epic characters is compelling to watch, as they struggle with their inner demons in an effort to conquer them and find inner peace. And lastly, the villain of this tale is truly diabolical. I hope you had a good read and were piqued by my words.
