ZOMATO

Zomato is an Indian restaurant search and discovery service founded in 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. It currently operates in 24 countries. The idea struck Deepinder when his colleagues consistently had a demand for paper menu leaflets of different restaurants, to order food. 75% of Zomato's revenue comes from placing banner ads for restaurants on the website. Zomato'soverall revenues were $74 million.

OLA

Founded by Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati, Ola app has become the cab hub of India. The idea popped up in Bhavish’s mind when he had to travel from Bangalore to Bandipur, for which he rented out a car, which ended in a very bad experience. That’s when he realized that a lot of people are going through the same problem and they all are in need of responsible, safe and economical rides. Ola has a revenue of $110 million.

BOOK MY SHOW

Three friends - Ashish Hemrajani, Rajesh Balpandeand Parikshit Dar founded Bigtree Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. in August 1999 later naming it BookMyShow. They started it when technology and the internet were not so prevalent and hence getting the investors, as well as the users, was quite hard. But they crossed all the hurdles and today, the company is valued at over ₹3000 Crores and the growth is only increasing.

Our country has grabbed the spotlight for being a ‘Startup Nation’. According to the reports, in 2014, India had 3100 startups and the year 2020 is expected to see more than 11500 startups, employing more than 2.5 lakh people. 90% of the startup activity is happening in the top 6 cities, the highest being in Bangalore.
