"Time waits for none in Delhi", such is the hectic pace of life of Delhi people.

Delhi is one of the most populated and polluted cities across the globe. According to the statistics, Delhi is the third most traffic stricken city in India.

It is seldom next to impossible if you travel by road and expect to reach your destination on time unless you leave the house prior to the scheduled time. Specially during the office hours, people spend hours in congestion, situation being so adverse that the term Office hours has been renamed as Rush hours.

Luckily, Delhi Metro came to the rescue in 2002. And thus, the advent of metro became the best version of mass transportation-the largest and the busiest metro in India.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) was registered on 5th May, 1995 under the Companies Act, 1956 under the equal ewuity participation with the Government of NCR and Central Government.

Today, DMRC is serving the city of Delhi along with its satellite cities of Bahadurgarh, Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabadh and Noida. This makes Delhi Metro to be world's eight longest metro.

The Delhi Metro consists of a total of 271 metros covering a distance of about 29,000 kms everyday. The colour consists of 8 colour coded lines running 373 kms.

DMRC has not left any stones unturned to make travelling effective and effecient. The facilities provided by DMRC are so good that it has enabled people to shift their mode of commuting.

Firstly, DMRC is a cost effective option. One can travel great spans with a minimal charge. Also, opting for the metro card makes travelling even cheaper.

Cleanliness is a pro in Delhi Metro. Unlike most of the trasportation options in India, Delhi Metro trains and stations are well maintained and clean fulfilling every necessity like food joints and loo for the cases of emergencies.

Safety and security has been a priority in DMRC. The are policemen and guards everywhere. There are censors for scanning luggage. Also, there is a special coach reserved for ladies for their safety. Seats are also reserved for old people and disabled. There are time to time surveys taken to avoid any loopholes in the system.

DMRC has made travelling user friendly avoiding any complications that confuse the travellers. There are maps and mobile applications that provides all information. Coloured footprints are laid all over connecting station guiding the way. Voice overs give information both in English and Hindi.

Hence, decribing the life of metro in a nutshell, you'll find scores of people with bagpack on their chest and earphones on rushing in and out. Some having their morning breakfast at stalls outside metro station, some indulged in their books. Some rushing as fast as their feet could allow to avoid missing the train and some cringing over the rush.
