Music has always been a significant part of the Bollywood industry. From the 90s soft melodious music to the catchy and brassy songs of today, music has only changed its form. In fact, Bollywood's international recognition is more about its music than it is about its movies.

Be it the romantic hits, sad songs or even hardcore rap, Bollywood has a lot to offer to suit your different moods.

But behind this sweet symphony lie some unheard voices. The same voices, which we otherwise are obsessed with. The past few years have witnessed many biggies in Bollywood music industry expressing their displeasure over the lack of recognition they get, and how discredited they feel about their own music.

Singer Neha Bhasin who rose to fame after her song (jag ghoomeya) from the movie Sultan became a hit, voiced her discontent over the unfair treatment of singers in Bollywood in one of her tweets.

The popular singer posted a tweet, "A little respect for the music industry wouldn't hurt anybody. We are where we are with credibility and integrity." Neha is not alone in her protest against this discrimination.

Monali Thakur who won all hearts with her song (Yeh Moh Moh Ke Dhage) also raised questions over the biased nature of the Bollywood music industry. Apart from them, there are many celebrity singers who are now openly talking about how neglected they feel.

Many singers believe that the main reason they are deprived of their credit is that actors steal away all the limelight with their popularity. They often overshadow the real talent with their lip-synching talent.

The question that Bollywood needs to answer is why has it failed to give the deserving singers their due credit? Why is it that singers in our music industry don't enjoy the recognition and popularity as singers in Hollywood or other music industries do? The question that we as an audience need to ask ourselves is why are we still obsessed with our favorite actors lip-synching the songs? Aren't we encouraging this unfair practice by choosing favoritism over real talent?

For an entertainment industry which aspires to be recognized at all international levels, it is utmost important that it treats all its artists with due respect and credibility.
