Obsession Of Humans With Artificial Intelligence.

SO WHAT IS AI?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer program or a machine to think and learn.

I’m sure you must be very familiar with the names of our very own personal assistants like Siri, Alexa and Cortona. These assistants live in our pockets enclosed in very compact yet powerful devices known as mobile phones.

These virtual assistants came into existence because of the brilliant minds like John McCarthy Alan Turing, Marvin Minsky, Allen Newell, and Herbert A. Simon. McCarthy coined the term "artificial intelligence" in 1955, and organized the famous Dartmouth conference in Summer 1956. This conference started AI as a field.

In the movies, you see AI as a helper to humans, assisting us in all kinds of tasks, from being a sidekick on space adventures to a lover like in the movie the terminator.

First of all, the categorization of Artificial Intelligence is into four types

1.Reactive machines  like the IBM chess program that beat the  the popular chess legend. Garry Kasparov,

2.Limited memory A good example can be self-driving cars. Like the Tesla model x

3.Theory of mind this type of AI can understand that others have their beliefs, intentions, desires, and opinions. However, this type of AI does not exist yet.

4.Self-awareness – This is the highest and most sophisticated level of Artificial Intelligence. Such systems have a sense of self. Furthermore, they have awareness, consciousness, and emotions. Obviously, such type of technology does not yet exist. This technology would certainly be a revolution.

There is a special real life robot known as Sophia the robot developed by a Hong Kong based company Hanson Robotics. Fun fact, this robot is a real life talking and walking terminator and has also been-awarded a citizenship by the Government of Saudi Arabia.

Artificial intelligence like any other thing has its own pros and cons

First of all lets proceed with the pros,

1. AI provides for a more efficient and time saving means of doing work in online platforms like the chat bots that give immediate response to all our questions.

AI is the future way of learning. And I think it is not wrong for humans to be-obsessed with AI as seeing the current situations we all might have to work from home for a very long time and the after effect of this pandemic (Covid 19) could last up-to a decade and it changes everything in our future.

2.AI could be a way of getting education and entertainment at the same time.

3.Virtual reality and Augmented reality are also based on the core concepts of AI.

4.VR is going to be a billion dollar industry in the coming future.

Great minds like Elon Musk , Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates think that AI is the way we might actually encounter extraterrestrial life!

5.AI is serving us in this pandemic by helping in the medical facilities and even in the restaurants or hotels

6.Another invention the drones are getting more and more advanced because of AI

As I said earlier everything has its pros and cons

So the cons of AI are:-

1.AI is only in its developing stage and this could be easily hacked by hackers which may lead to great distruction

2.AI is very expensive to purchase and is difficult to programme this might make it a little more difficult to reach mass population.

The founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerburg thinks that the Artificial Intelligence is very useful and on another side,

Elon Musk thinks that the AI is very Harmful. 

So in the end all that I want to say is

Artificial Intelligence is the Future period . Are they useful or are they harmful, that is not the Fix.
