India is a country in South Asia which is also known as the Republic of India. It is the second(2nd) most populous and seventh (7th) largest country by area.

Symbols :-

1. National Flag :- Tiranga

A horizontal rectangular tricolour of with 2:3 proportion saffron, white and green with the Ashoka Chakra(a 24-spoke wheel), in navy blue at the centre of the Flag is the National Flag of India and it became the official flag on 15 August 1947. The flag is first flown in 1923, the design of it is made by Pingali Venkayya.

2. National Emblem :- National Emblem of India

The national emblem of India is an adaptation of the Lion Capital of Ashoka at Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, on January 26, 1950 with the combined National Motto “Satyameva Jayate”. In the emblem there are three lions are visible, the fourth hidden from view. In the centre of the abacus the wheel appears in relief , with a bull on the right and a galloping horse on the left, and outlines of Dharma Chakras on the extreme right and left. The hard work and steadfastness is represented by the bull, while the horse represents loyalty, speed, and energy.

3. National Anthem :- Jana Gana Mana

By poet Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali Jana Gana Mana was originally composed as Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata. It was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on 24 January 1950. A full version of the Anthem takes 52 seconds and A shortened version consisting of the first and last lines takes about 20 seconds.

4. National Song :- Vande Matram
Vande Matram which is also pronounced as Bande Matram is a Bengali poem written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1870 and he used it in his novel Anandamath in 1882. The poem was composed into song by Rabindranath Tagore.

5. National Fruit :- Mango
The scientific name of Mango is Mangifera Indica and adopted as a National Fruit in 1950. With the exception of hilly areas in India mango is cultivated almost in all parts. Vitamins A, C and D are contained in mangoes.

6. National River :- Ganga

The Ganga or the Ganges is the longest river of India flowing over 2,510 Kms of mountains, valleys and plains. It was declared as a national river by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2008 in order to achieve the objectives of the Ganga Action Plan, initiated by PM Rajiv Gandhi in 1985.

7. National Vegetable :- Indian Pumpkin

As Indian Pumpkin is also called as Meetha Kaddu which looks like a pumpkin but has the taste and texture of butternut squash. It is the most popular vegetable in India.

8. National Heritage Animal :- Indian Elephant

Since October 22, 2010 Indian Elephant is the National Heritage Animal of India. The Indian Ministry of Environment declared it as National Heritage Animal in order to increase the protective measures.

9. National Reptile :- King Cobra

King Cobra is considered as a sacred animal in Indian culture. They are found in almost every part of the Indian subcontinent.
