Climate change has emerged as the greatest danger of the 21st century. Burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gasoline raises the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which in turn is a great contributor to the greenhouse gas and ultimately global warming. As human beings, we can help in slowing down golobal warming by implementing small and more sustainable actions within our community.

To make people aware of environmental protection , 'World Earth Day ' is celebrated on the 22nd of April every year since 1970. The significance of this day increased when on April 22nd, 2016 , more than 130 countries including India signed the historic ' Paris Climate Change Agreement ' to reduce carbon emission.

  • The waste from the industries ,especially chemical units should be recycled. Proper measures should be takenby the government and the officials to dump the industrial waste properly. This will save our rivers and lakes and also helpin controlling air pollution.

  • The cutting of trees should be stoppedand conservation of forests done on a priority basis. Trees and forests should be saved and more plantations should be done. If you have the means to plant a tree ,start digging. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. A single tree will absorb approximately one ton of carbon dioxide during its lifetime.

  • We should decrease the use of fossil fuels and turn our attention to renewable energy measures such as wind energy, solar energy and hydroelectricity, instead of the electricity generated from coal to control the gases that heat up the atmosphere.

  • Substances, which are non bio-degradable such as plastic, should be not used. Buying products with minimal packaging will help to reduce waste. By recycling half of our household waste, we can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide from releasing into the atmosphere annually.
