Procrastination is a phenomena which shows the fear of a person from doing difficult jobs . Hence the best way out is to delay in doing his or her work .

“Usually procrastination happens because the task seems too difficult,” said A. Chris Heath, MD, a psychiatrist who practices in Texas.“Sometimes the procrastinator thinks he or she won’t do a good job. This is really a self-esteem issue—as if the person is not equipped to carry out the task. Often the person carries some degree of shame or guilt, and they may not even be aware of. With just enough shame, that it makes that already difficult task seem near impossible.

According to research , nearly 20% of US men and women are persistent procrastinators . It can have an inimical effect on their mental stability.

It has also been revealed that some people with certain types of challenges may also suffer from chronic procrastination. They tend to show aggressive behaviour , have obsessive-compulsive behaviour and try to seek revenge.

Procrastination is something that most people have at least a little experience with. No matter how well-organized and committed you are, chances are that you have found yourself frittering away hours on trivial pursuits (watching TV, updating your Facebook status, shopping online) when you should have been spending that time on work or school-related projects.

Whether you're putting off finishing a project for work, avoiding homework assignments, or ignoring household chores, procrastination can have a major impact on your job, your grades, and your life.

Who is to be blamed?

Some people blame the Internet for rise in procrastination rates over the past years. Well, today's technology can help us not to procrastinate if we use it wisely . We need to keep a check on time. Once we stop surfing the Web for irrelevant things , we can learn not to procrastinate. Indulge in every task but have a strict time limit.

How to Stop Procrastinating

Get Organized
You can't do any work if you don't know wht assignments need to be completed.Make use of the calender app on your phone and plan accordingly. It will help in keeping track of everything.

Set a Deadline
Words like "someday" and "eventually" never do any good to you. It is important to set a specific date for when you want to accomplish your goals.

Get Rid of Distractions
Its important for you to get rid of all potential disruptions before beginning your work. If you tend to spend too much time on social media when you should be studying , then shut your phone off . Try changing the study environment which means you may head down to the local library where you can study without any sort of distraction .

Get the hard stuff done first
It is best to complete your most challenging assignments first. That way everything after it seems easier and takes shorter amout of time. It is best to buckle down and just do it.

Have the right attitude
You always need to be positive and show optimism . You need to decide that "you can do it".
