Calcuttan street food scenario could never be as rich as it is now without the humble egg/chicken rolls. The Kathi Roll was actually invented in Kolkata, so it is quite natural that Kolkata is home to the best eateries when it comes to rolls. No, its not just kebabs in a wrap, its much more than that and we Bongs know it. Here is a list of the best rolls in town, that you ought to have when in Kolkata.

1) Nizam’s

The original place where the hot kathi roll was invented. Over the years there have been several competitors to this good old place, but Nizam’s has held its position. It is famous for its kathi roll (obviously) and the egg chicken roll is quite popular.

2) Kusum Rolls

Located in Park Street, this is undoubtedly the most famous spot when it comes to Kathi rolls. It has a wide variety in both veg and non-veg rolls. Lately they added cheese to their chicken rolls and things have never been better. It’s a must have.

3) Zeeshan

A landmark for Mughal food, Zeeshan is located next to Quest Mall, in the heart of Park Circus. It makes the choicest selection of delicious rolls. While you may opt for the simpler egg roll, chicken roll or the heavenly Tikia roll, whats stands out is their Brain Roll! Whatever be your choice, one thing is for sure that you will not be disappointed.

4) Campari

Located at Gariahat, this quaint little place is known for its delectable rolls. Quite old, and very very famous, you can opt for their egg, chicken and mutton rolls. But what makes this place different, is their Tandoori Fish Roll. Its delicious and you would find yourself asking for more.

5) Hot Kathi Rolls

Another one in Park Street, you are most likely to find a queue in front of the store always. It has a selection of 24 kathi rolls and the stuffings include veggies, paneer, egg, chicken and mutton. It is one of Kolkata’s legacies in terms of Kathi rolls and one bite into the roll, you would know exactly why!

A few other noteworthy mentions are Anamika Rolls, Baadshah, Jabbr Afghani and the latest 18inch roll of Bawarchi.
