The whole country was tensed yesterday when India lose 3 wickets on 5 runs.These were not just the wickets but were like losing our top three batsmen.Those batsmen who made us win in last 9 matches.

But everyone still had a hope on the coming players.But at last when dhoni and jadeja got out, we lost the match. Yes it was difficult for the entire country to believe that india lost the match by 18 runs in semifinals vs New zealand in CWC 2019 and we are no more in world cup. Our dream ends here. Everyone was sad.

This is the story of cricket in india. Cricket is not just a game but like a religion for india. Most indians don’t actually play cricket but no one wants to miss a live match on tv or phone. When this match is of world cup or against pakistan no one can beat the enthusiasm of indians. It’s more like a peaceful war for them.

But why India has so much craze for Cricket. Let’s just look at the history of cricket in india

Cricket is a game of british legacy. Initially in india it was revered as game of kings. It is also referred to as the Gentlemen’s game. First the royal families adopted this game. Then afterwards it becomes popular with the name of british and royalty. After that it percolated down and became popular with the masses.

But in india cricket recieved the popularity in 1983 when india won the world cup in the captaincy of Kapil Dev. And after that introduction of colour TV inasian games made this game even more popular.

And this was one of the strongest and major factor behind cricket success even today. And from that day cricket's popularity and glam never looked back and it remained on top for indians.

In 1985 India won the Kerry Packer/Channel Nine produced World Championships again. The series was telecast live. The masses went hysterical watched in amazement. The cheered at every shot or their hearts sank at every deadly delivery to Indian cricketers who were seen wearing colored clothing, playing at night under floodlights.

In 2011 india again won the worldcup and after the introduction of t20 world cup it gains more popularity.

Secondly, Cricket players are treated as heroes in india. They live a luxurious life with everything in their hands – money, fame, awards and recognition. Thus the youth is highly attracted towards their personality and way of living. With the passage of time the doors in acting and politics also open for them. In this sense they even get more popularity. Every child prefers being a cricketer than working hard for competitive examinations and this world of edcation full of competition.

Everyone knows the story of india pakistan animosity which was started in 1947. Even the wars of 1965, 1971 and Kargil has not settled the issues. The Patriotic citizens of both the country want their country to be in top in every field - whether technology or economy or even war.Thus it is the match between the teams of two countries which gives a pleasure of winning one against the other.
