The World Of Birds

Nature has endowed us with the fairest creations, be it the heights of mountains or the depths of seas, be it the roar of the deadliest wildlife or the soothing voice of the birds.

Be it the flash of floods or the scorch heat during drought, be it the birds who soar high in the sky or the birds who dive deep in seas, everything looks so fine.

Generally birds are assumed as calm and peaceful species but to declare them harmless, that would be our folly.

So, now I am going to mention about the strangest species of the birds, who by their actions, their features, their looks have deceived the entire ideology of humankind.

Kakapo

Basically, Parrots are considered as the most cherished species among birds. If you will visit villages in India then you will see that most of the families keep parrots with them, butthere is a species which has something different in it and that is Kakapo.

Kakapo has many unique features and it is really very difficult to understand where to begin. It is the heaviest and the only flightless parrot. It is the only parrot known in the world which is known to its mate by lekking. (Something like “Swayamvar in Indian methodology.”)

Christmas Island Frigate Bird (The Sea Pirates)

When we are talking about the strangest species in birds, how can we forget “Christmas Island Frigate bird” to add in the list. The feature which makes it strange is its methodology of capturing it's prey. Unlike other birds this frigate bird believe in snatching its prey from the clutch of other seabirds and gulls. Just because of this feature we like to call them “Sky Pirates”.

Guacharo(Oil Bird)

Now, it’s turn to mention the mate of Kakapo,Guacharo(Oil bird). They together possess the title of world’s only nocturnal fruit Eaters. But it is not that quality which makes it different. As the name suggests, this bird is so oily that people use it to extract oil from it so that they can use that oil as fuel.

Hoatzin (Stink Bird)

It’s quite amazing to know that there is one species of bird which have it’s digestive system like a cow. Yeah, we are discussing about “Stink Bird Hoatzin”. Just because of the above feature it is the most foul smelling bird and therefore it is not threatened by Human poaching. By their looks they remind us about the existence of dinosaurs in Earth.

Cassowary

We have left the best for last, Now it is “Cassowary”, one of the few birds which is not known for it’s soothing voice, not known for its high flights, not known for its deep dives but known for its ability to kill humans with its sweeping blows, and its innermost toe which has dagger like nails, helps it the most. This bird is also known for it’s sprinting. It can run as fast as 50 km per hour.

Dove

Apart from all these strange birds there are certain birds which are known for their extreme peaceful nature, one of them being Dove (Name symbolizes peace of the deepest kind). It has already been recognized as symbol of peace for many years and it also finds religious roots in Christianity and Judaism.

Conclusion
