Starting a day with a restorative shower we want the most. Taking a shower in a right way will help you achieve a glowing skin and shining hair. There are a few healthy shower habits you need to adopt if you have not done it already. Showering is the basic habit we include in our every day routine. But showering is not just washing, rinsing and drying. There is something more in it.

A RIGHT WATER TEMPERATURE

Warm water is the best for a comfortable shower without drying out the skin. But using a very hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils. So dermatologists recommend luke warm water. Warmth of the water reenergises your skin. Hot water is very effective in expelling dirt from the skin pores.

DON’T SHOWER TOO OFTEN

How often to shower depends on your daily activity level. If you are not active you can cut back to a few times a week. If you're working out daily and taking a shower in the morning and another after the gym, you should be conscious not to take too long.

Water exposure can lead to dry skin and hair. For patients with atopic dermatitis and/or very dry skin, doctors recommend to keep showers to five minutes or less. One should keep showers active instead of standing under water for minutes at a time.

USING EXFOLIATOR AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK

We generally scrub our face but just like our face, dead skin cells accumulate in the rest of our body. So you need to use an exfoliating scrub on your body to get rid of the dead skin cells. This will give your skin a natural glow and will soften your skin more. We are generally very lazy about scrubbing our back. So keep a back scrubber close at hand while bathing.

BRUSH YOUR HAIR BEFORE BATHING

If you are planning to wet your hair brush your hair so that they do not tangle further when it gets wet.

DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR TOO MUCH

Hair is made of dead skin cells and needs washing. Daily washing routine will be determined by your hair type. Washing too often can be drying. But washing too little can lead to build up of scalp oils resulting in flakes. Wrapping your hair with a towel cause breakage, so it is better to squeeze out the excess moisture.

DO NOT USE SOAP EVERYDAY

Using soap everyday can dry out your skin. You can use soap to wash your private parts for personal hygiene.

MOISTURIZE

Doctors generally recommend moisturizing twice a day, even if you skip shower, during the winter and if you have dry skin.
