Each time the girl leaps, she finds her power in defying gravity. Putting down all the eyes that raised questions on her dreams, Priyanka, the eldest of the five Singh sisters decided to make basketball as her career. Thus, blazing a trail for the other four younger sisters, Divya, Prashanti, Akanksha and Pratima, who shared the same dislike for stereotypes.

The passionate story took a start when five super talented girls from Varanasi decided to follow their dreams breaking all the rules and barriers made by the society. Changing their dreams into a passion and reciprocating the passion for their work. It made them face major drags from society, major drag being gender bias. All that these girls knew was their dedication towards the game that took them to a world recognizable existence.

In India, where the birth of a female baby is still a matter of disappointment to the family, these girls stood as a light of hope.

“Even my dad wanted me to opt for civil services,” said Priyanka in an interview. She said that her father always tried to make her appear for the civil services saying “Just give it a try”. Priyanka said that though for few years he repeated his words, deep inside he knew that he won't succeed.

The other four sisters consider themselves lucky as they say that they haven't suffered much as Priyanka did for her dreams. Priyanka being the eldest sister had to face a lot of question while putting forth her desires in front of the society, fighting and answering all the criticism Priyanka stood up as a basketball coach in the National Institute of sports.

"I, in fact, had a fight with an aged relative in our ancestral village near Varanasi, ” said
Divya Singh the second sister in the Singh family who led the Indian women's basketball team at the Melbourne Commonwealth in 2006, she said that the lady was sympathizing for their father for been “ burdened “ with five daughters. Divya now stands as a former captain of the Indian National women’s basketball team. In a country where people still yearns for a boy baby, the Singh family emerged as the “ Basketball family of India”. Taking the steps was not easy even after so many years said the fourth sister of the Singh family. Though most of the members around had accepted basketball for the sisters, there were still voices around Akanksha Singh, who is now called “ The small wonder in basketball”. Following her sisters’ trait, Pratima Singh the member of Indian women's national basketball team took her leap. Prashanti Singh the second child of the Basketball family with the Arjuna award holds the captainship of the Indian national women's basketball team. Moving out of the court these sisters now train students in Delhi so as to drive more people towards the game. The power of these women has been greatly honored by levis in the video advertisement with the tag of I shape my world.

The sisters all together have made the gender bias break and made the country realize the power of a woman. Great respect to the dribblers!
