When we communicate we think of verbal ways while we speak. In recent years, the definition has broadened to forms such as art, music, dance and poetry. There is a shift from verbal aspect to the body as a whole has become a tool which conveys and represent messages.

The body is not just an instrument that speaks and moves, you communicate even further by what you chose to cover your body.

For centuries people have used the LANGUAGE OF DRESS to differentiate and to unite in class, gender, religion and ethnicity. Political and social movement also made changes in dressing style.

“You wear basic denim and a T-shirt or you wear ethnic clothes or you wear funky studded trousers and a chic shirt, whatever you wear you communicates in your own personal language”.

Every language has a grammar and vocabulary. As there are rules to spoken language, there are rules to dressing language also. Fashion just as any other language has its own grammar. There are rules to it, sometimes, which is appropriate or sometimes which is unacceptable.

Different cultures, religions have different ways of carrying their outfits. Make-up, style, clothing, shoes, these make the word ‘FASHION’ and is followed largely with and without restrictions. Some cultures take the rules very seriously and restrict adoption of new fashion.

People use slang to communicate, to get attention or signify emotion. Jeans, t-shirts are the slang of dress or formal wear which gives relaxed and loose feel. There are fashions which are used as curse words such as rock fashion, punk fashion and denim was before considered as work wear but now with time the way of communication depends on individual soul. “The more comfortable you feel the better you appear”.

First impression is the last impression. While dating, meeting your boss, giving a presentation or being introduced to someone to speak, your first language will be your attire. “A woman in mismatched, random accessories and messy hair gives you an impression of insanity. On the other hand a matching and expensive outfit identifies a wealthy, professional person”.

We consciously or subconsciously absorb the given information. So, carefully choose your outfit.

A designer may create clothing for one purpose; someone will buy it for another. This depends on how you perceive.

“Fashion is a free speech and a privilege of perception and not a pleasure of a free world”.

It only depends on how you take fashion, you can make it overrated or underrated or balanced.
