Male grooming is now a multi- billion pound worldwide industry because now more men are spending on their appearance. Face wash, moisturizer, pore strips, hair removal products and LIPSTICK also.
Ancient Sumerian men and women were possibly first to invent and wear lipstick. There was an emerging trend of lipstick among women as it enhances their beauty. Many lipstick shades became popular from red to bright bold to nude to gloss. But sooner or later lipstick was not about sex appeal, it was just an addition on to feminine or makeup.
Many companies have been trying to sell to men for decades. But the big challenge, as every marketer knows is getting men to believe makeup “CAN BE MANLY” too. Some companies do this by opting different names- rebranding mascara to manscara, eyeliner to guyliner, foundation to tinted moisturizer. Some argue that makeup can give men “masculine benefits” by contouring a more pronounced jaw line. Celebrities also prefer makeup before coming on screen. But this was just about makeup. If you talk about lipstick many feel shy to apply it. Some are okay with lip gloss, some like lighter shades, some in fashion industry are more interested in trying different shades and some simply hate different shades and some simple hate the name of it. LIPSTICK!!! Why? It is a female thing.
Men also took up a challenge and applied lipstick for a week.
Some gets even addicted to lipstick and men are also wearing lipstick! Lipstick is designed to change the color of lips and if men want to wear it then he should! It’s not permanent and it’s not harming anyone.
Many come out with negative comments but if clothing style is changing and becoming common why not lipstick or any other cosmetic product.
According to survey men think wearing lipstick is not a novelty for them. They appreciate who wear it.
