Forestry has been an important natural resource for the people of Indian civillization since the ancient times. Surely wildlife was also an important component in forestry. India has several belts of forest in the north east region. One of them is the Doars region which is majorly located in the state of West Bengal and only a small or tiny portion in the state of Assam. Doars has an unique variety flora and fauna. From rare varities of botanical species to the majestic One horned Rhinoceros , all are found here.

The nearest station to this tourist spot is New Malbazar junction from where transport would be available for Chalsa which could be stated as the gateway of Doars.Another substitute route would be availing for a four wheeler to Chalsa from NJP. This would be suitable for the people who are boarding the train for NJP station. After reaching the Chalsa Market Area, tourist mainly enroute into their destined national park and their places of interest.

Jaldapara National Park
This is one of the two famous national parks in Doars, this national park really offers close views of much fancied animals like One Horned Rhinoceros , Indian leopard, Indian Gaur , Sambar , Wild hog etc. It is famous for its elephant safari as well as the jeep safari. It is one of those parks in which the famous river Holong, which have its source in Bhutan, flows through. For the tourist to stay , the department of forestry has set up the Holong bunglow in the heart of the national park.

Gorumara National Park
This is the second place which attracts the tourist's attention after Jaldapara national park. This national park offers a variety of fauna spieces that is from One horned Indian rhino to Asian Elephants , from Sambar to Chital dear , from Bison to Sloth Bear. This national park has a whole lot of watch towers to view the animals in their wild context.

Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary
Though it is not frequently visited by the people , yet it is worth the attention at par with the previous two national parks. It has nearly all the fauna species as of the previous national parks. In addition to it, it has numerous animal crossing points which increases the probability of watching the wild animals in their natural context more.

Moreover , Bhutan being close to Doars, tourists also visit the spot Phuntsholing which is in the Bhutan's terrain.

Hence, we can say in a nutshell, a trip to the enchanting Doars at any weekend would make you stress free after the hectic life of weekdays.
