On 24 May , 1941 , a boy named Robert Allen Zimmerman, was born in Duluth in Minnesota, located in the United states. Hardly anyone knew that this boy would turn out to be one of the world's best songwriter , singer , author as well as visual artist. He was none other than the legendary country artiste Bob Dylan.

Bob grew up in the city of Habbing (Minnesota) , with the legal name of Robert Dylan. From the very childhood his interest in music was quite noticable as he was acquinted with playing multiple instruments. He became avid in playing guitar ,keyboards and harmonica.

In 1962, Dylan's works were first released in a self titled album which consisted of mainly folk songs. The breakthrough in his career came up with the release of the album, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan in 1963. The album consisted of the song 'Blowin in the wind' which became anthems for the civil rights movement and the anti -war movement. In 1964, the song 'The times they are a-changin' spread like wildfire due to its abstract nature and political significance. He encountered a phase of controversy when he adopted rock music instrumentation in his works like the Highway 61 Revisited(1965),Bringing It All Back Home(1965) and Blonde on Blonde(1966).

In 1966, he met with a motorcycle accident after which he had to withdraw from touring shows and started working with 'The Band'.

A large number songs were made in collaboration with 'The Band', where he even worked with stalwarts like Joan Baez. 'The Basement Tapes' is one such work. His late works in the career include Love and theft(2001) and Tempest (2012).

With more than a 100 million copies sold , he is one of the best-selling music artiste ever. Ten Grammy awards,a Golden Globe Award , Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Minnesota Hall of fame are some of the awards in his tally. But the most prestigious is the Noble prize for literature in 2016 for new poetic expressions in great American song tradition.
