"In the eastern coast of the Indian peninsula , on the the shores of Bay of Bengal their lies a state with the fish eating population as its majority" - Unfortunately this is how the people who resides outside West Bengal defines this state. People may also describe it as the birthplace of Rabindranath Tagore . But the unique identity of the Bengalis as the 'lazy masterminds of revolution' are now at stake. In modern eras, Bengalis don't sit at the Indian coffee house addas discussing on current political situations or about the kolkata derby which is eastbengal vs Mohunbagan. But the youth of bengal visit air conditioned malls and click selfies as it looks 'cool' according to the Gen Y 's term. The essence of culture and intelect is diminishing from the bengalis at alarming rates.

Bengalis were one of the most intellectual races at one point of time. The so called 'rice with fishing curry' consuming population, who were more inclined to Satyajit Ray and Karl Marx , had produced greatest minds in the international platforms. But due to the commercial mindset and more buisness minded setting in Bengal , Bengal had lost their sheer intelect. Their approach towards success is more of physical and hardworking than intellectual and smart ways.

Bengal was once the epicentre of revolution. With examples of Master Da Surya Sen , Khudiram Bose, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose etc, the bengalis shows list of people who have given their sweat, blood and life for the country's independence. Just like Master Da Surya Sen gave trigger to the Chittagong uprising with the incident of armshouse looting, Mangal Pandey gave the trigger to the 1857 revolt much earlier on the soil of Bengal in Barrackpore. Now in no sense Bengalis know how to revolt or take stand point on any of the political topics that need to be revolted against.

Hence we find the taste of bengali culture has long been lost. This is due to the fact of taking in bad influences of the western culture and ignoring the constructive ones. Thus this is how Bengalis have been reduced to a race who were once intellectual beings but are just mere ordinary people today.
