A quote goes like this “Don’t let your wish for perfection become procrastination”. Nothing is wrong in trying to be a perfectionist but we should be careful to note that when our perfectionism is turning into laziness followed by procrastination. Procrastination is the action of delaying or postponing some work. It is a very simple logic, if we delay our work obviously our progress will be delayed. “I got to be within the right mood”, “I work better under pressure” all this is procrastination which can take many forms. Procrastination is the universal troublemaker and the single best productivity killer. It is all rubbish when you think you don’t have mood right now it’s just your laziness. If we have a tendency to build our mind we are able to accomplish something. But we can’t deny the fact that as humans it’s our nature to procrastinate but the successful people of our world have found ways to battle it and obviously have won against it which is the reason they are at this stage in their life. And there are certain reasons as to why it is detrimental to progress:

1. LOSS OF PRECIOUS TIME
This is the worst thing about procrastinating because one doesn’t realize how much time they are losing by just slacking. And when they realize it, it’s already too late.

2. INABILITY TO MEET GOALS
Procrastination comes with full force only when one has the idea of achieving a goal or to make a change in themselves. And if a person is unable to resist the urge to procrastinate then it is highly unlikely to meet goals, forget bringing a change in lifestyle.

3. RUINING OF THE CAREER
At the end of the day, it is our work that reflects our success and procrastination may ruin a person’s career. A procrastinated work will never have a good result. A ruined career will eventually lead to a lower self-confidence and ultimately a bitter unsatisfied life.

4. YOU WILL LOWER YOUR SELF-ESTEEM
People often tend to procrastinate due to low-esteem. Procrastination feeds on a person’s confidence and sucks it all until they are left with a self-doubting soul. The more a task is delayed, the more it affects the self-confidence.

5. YOU WILL MAKE POOR DECISIONS
Making poor decision has a huge negative effect on one’s happiness and life. So, when a person procrastinates they don’t get the enough time required to analyse a situation to make a decision. Thus, lack of time leads to poor decision making which is taken emotionally rather than intellectually.
So, student or not, the problem of procrastination stays forever, whether it is delaying an assignment till last date or keeping the work pending till the last moment, procrastination is inside everyone. Thus, those guilty of procrastination will find themselves always struggling to make a progress or achieve success in life.
