The Indian cricket team has been one of the most cheered and loved teams all over the world. The victory in both the ICC world cup 2019 matches, against South Africa and Australia, has left India with a sense of pride and honor. The love and support that the team India gets are definitely to be cherished but there is also a darker side of the ball. Let's try to explore the gloom in the very architectural structure of the ICC and BCCI.

Cricket was originated in England, The kingdom which drained India of its resources. Cricket is the national sports of England has much more following in India, so much, that almost 70% of the total revenue generated at the International Cricket Council world cup is contributed by India. BCCI, the cricket watchdog of India, demanded an increased share of revenue at one of the ICC board meetings, but the decision wasn't made in their favor. Post which, the BCCI declared to boycott the Champions Trophy after the proposal was struck down by the International Cricket Council, for India to receive $570 million. However, fearing the dip in revenue production, as India would boycott the upcoming tournament, the International Cricket Council was compelled to give away $239 million across the eight-year cycle from 2016 to 2023. Ironically, team England stands second in the position to receive $143 million among all the other ICC members.

Interestingly, the ICC Cricket world cup 2015 included 14 teams across the world, but this time in 2019 it has been reduced to just 10 teams. The probability of India playing more number of matches, increases, if there are less number of teams playing in the first place. Lesser the number of teams, higher the probability of India playing more number of matches and thereby increased revenue production for the ICC. The math works out quite effectively, as teams of Scotland, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and United Arab Emirates are excluded in this year's cricket world cup.

Cricket is just not just a game but it's a means of developing equality and a sense of pride among the underprivileged and underdeveloped Nations. The motto of ICC is "Cricket For Good", but the current model of the International Cricket Council doesn't seem to be promoting their motto, as the model invariably is preventing smaller Nations to participate in the game. The BCCI is also preventing the entry of cricket into the Olympics as they fear that the business model India currently has, would be tampered.

One of the most crucial aims was to create a sense of equity both in terms of the financial and social domain, across all the nations of the world. The social sanctity is tampered, as smaller teams are not allowed to participate in the major International matches. The financial sanctity, on the other hand, is tilted towards India (33%), England (8%), and Australia(7.6%) who bag a major portion of the revenue. Prior to 2014, the revenue was shared equally among each nation.

Even all the other nations are compelled to accept the proposal, as they have no other choice. India being the major contributor to the cricket must end such irregularities and promote the spread of cricket.
