After India lost the semi-finals to Newzealand in Worldcup tournament, there had been a lot of buzzabout changing the knockout format played in worldcup tournament to IPL style playoffs.

When asked for an opinion about the same, our present Indian cricket team captain Virat kohli said, “Who knows? There might be chances if topping the table means anything. I think these things can come into consideration, looking at the magnitude of this tournament.”

On a different note, few cricketing legends opined that it is ofcourse the right way as it will be a real test for players to play the game under pressure and also they feel that the semifinal format has its own charm as it completely negates a team’s previous performances in the event. It doesn’t matter how the team had played till then. It will be a fresh day, fresh start and if the team is not good enough that particular day, it goes out of the tournament.

The trend has been changing across all the formats of the game these days. So the change in style for knockouts may be considered by ICC when all the cricketing country nations comes to consent with each other regarding the same. Although the present format is challenging, It isn't wrong to give one chance to any team which is outstanding throughout the league matches.
